Renowned Formula 1 journalist Peter Windsor has praised Brazilian GP winner Max Verstappen while criticizing McLaren’s Lando Norris. The latter commented that Verstappen’s victory at Interlagos involved luck as well.
Lando Norris finished P6 in a disappointing afternoon at Sao Paolo, where he started in pole position. The 24-year-old has been phenomenal for the Papayas across a few races this season. He has been far from clinical in the others, such as the one at Interlagos.
Peter Windsor claimed that Max Verstappen tactfully utilized his tires during the first stint of the 69-lap race. He then concluded that the red flag thus benefitted the Dutchman to push forward on a fresher set of tires.
Norris now trails Verstappen by a huge margin of 62 points in the drivers’ championship. The former’s hopes of securing the title might have all but vanished as Formula 1 heads into the last three races of the campaign.
Martin Brundle claims Lando Norris ‘will learn a lot’ from 2024 title challenge
F1 Pundit Martin Brundle has urged Lando Norris to keep his head up in light of his recent performance at Interlagos. The British driver has secured three wins and 12 podiums for McLaren so far this campaign.
Martin Brundle has claimed that Norris lacks the killer instincts to win a race while dueling with someone like Max Verstappen. He then applauded the 24-year-old for performing brilliantly in races such as Zandvoort and Singapore this season.
After Interlagos, the Lando Norris-led McLaren is only 36 points ahead of second-placed Ferrari in the constructors’ championship. The Woking-based team will now be eager to find and resolve their issues with the aim of securing their first title in over two decades.
