The Red Bull F1 team has been surrounded by major controversy during the 2024 season. All the chaos has led to several high-profile exits and while the sport is currently in a short break, Ex-F1 driver Ralf Schumacher has come up with his take on team principal Christian Horner.

The Brit was in the news for all the wrong reasons during the early part of the ongoing campaign. He was involved in some sexual allegations that had an extremely bad impact on the overall morale of the Milton-Keynes-based team.

While Christian Horner was cleared of the allegations, the damage was done internally. Several believe it was one of the main reasons for the exits of certain personnel from the team.

I don’t think that’s due to the Horner case. So I wouldn’t connect that to the Horner situation. You hear that, apparently, Christian isn’t an easy boss, but who really is in Formula One?

The German has made it known that in his opinion, the Horner case did not have a huge impact on the exits of prominent names like Adrian Newey, and Jonathan Wheatley. However, he has emphasized that the Brit is a bit of a tough nut in his approach as leader of the team.

Oscar Piastri ready for a championship fight against Max Verstappen

While Red Bull has had a lot on its plate during the 2024 season, the fight at the business end is brewing nicely. Lando Norris and Max Verstappen are going gung-ho against each other in their pursuit of the F1 championship.

But when it comes to 2025, a certain emerging star Oscar Piastri has the heavy hitters in his sight.

Next year I feel like I’m ready. I’ve certainly still learned a lot of things through this year and there will still be a lot of things to learn next year but there’s also the case of, I might not ever have that opportunity [to become champion] again so I need to make sure that I’m ready in some ways but I feel like regardless of that I feel like, I can be ready for a Championship fight [in 2025].

Piastri amassed his maiden win in F1 at the Hungarian Grand Prix this year. Since then, he has regularly been a nuisance for the lights of Norris and Verstappen, and has even on occasions, got the better of them.

Red Bull is no longer the top dog in the sport with McLaren’s massive resurgence. Keeping this view, the 2025 F1 season could shape up to be a brutal tussle between the top drivers at the business end of the extremely competitive grid.
