Max Verstappen‘s performance in the 2024 season has been impressive despite the massive performance slump from Red Bull. The Dutchman has maintained a steady lead in the drivers’ championship against the dominant Lando Norris. Hence, amidst the enticing battle for the top spot, Ralf Schumacher insisted that Verstappen could go further than the record-matching Lewis Hamilton.

Ralf Schumacher believed that Max Verstappen made all the difference on the track with his racing talent. The Dutchman continued to perform well despite not having the fastest challenger on the grid. Schumacher recalled his legendary brother Michael Schumacher who performed similarly during his racing days.

Max Verstappen makes the difference with his talent, even though he doesn’t have the fastest car. Just like my brother Michael used to make the difference in the past.

Ralf Schumacher further noted that people believed Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen to ‘walk on water’ in Formula 1 due to their performances. However, Schumacher made it clear that this wasn’t the case in reality. Regardless, the German claimed that Verstappen could go much further than Hamilton in terms of talent. The Dutchman made an even bigger difference while fighting on the track.

We thought Lewis Hamilton could walk on water. We thought Max Verstappen could walk on water. But that’s not how things work in F1. Although in my opinion Max could actually go further than Lewis Hamilton in terms of talent. That’s true, Max makes an even bigger difference.

Michael Schumacher ‘very lucky’ to be in the ‘right place at the right time’

Michael Schumacher’s performances have enabled the driver to be placed amongst one of the greatest talents in the sport. Schumacher won seven world championships and set a new high standard for the drivers. Lewis Hamilton came along and performed similarly, much like Max Verstappen currently. However, Schumacher claimed that his brother was in the ‘right place at the right time’.

He [Michael Schumacher] was also very lucky to be in the right place at the right time.

Verstappen will continue to participate in the pinnacle of motorsport and etch his name in the record books. The Dutchman shattered multiple records in the 2023 season amidst a dominant Red Bull performance. The 2024 campaign has proved a bit up-and-down for him but despite this, he still has managed to win the most number of races.
