The reigning Formula One champion Max Verstappen once again showed why he is regarded as one of the all-time greatest of the sport, winning the 2025 Japanese Grand Prix. He won the race by executing the race to perfect, as his Red Bull challenger was slower than Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri’s McLaren.
At the same time, Max Verstappen’s new teammate Yuki Tsunoda finished the race outside the points and the poor performance of their second team has inspired Red Bull to make a tough choice. Team principal Christian Horner has confirmed that going into the remaining races their priority will be the driver’s championship.
Our priority is the drivers’ championship. The constructors’ will be harder but it is a long year and you never give up. t is a marathon and things can change. It is all about maximising your opportunities and we have done that this weekend.
Christian Horner told Sky Sports.
Though there are opportunities left in the remaining 21 races for them to make a comeback for the construers title, their focus is on the 5th title for Verstappen. This was the case even before the race as the Dutchman worked hard with the team throughout the week to field a solid car and produce the win.

We’ve turned the car upside down this weekend. Max has worked hard with his engineering team just trying to get the car in a window and then he’s just gone and delivered the most amazing lap.
Christian Horner said.
The veteran team boss is beyond impressed with the four times champions’ run this weekend and he declared the win at Suzuka proves Verstappen the best driver in the world. The win also gives the team the well-deserved momentum booster for the upcoming race at Bahrain.
That was one of Max’s best weekends. Max, without any debate, is the best driver in the world currently, but you are a team, not a driver. Winning is a real tonic.
Christian Horner added.
Max Verstappen has given Honda the perfect sent off
The win was not only special for Red Bull and Max Verstappen, but it was a really special moment for their partner Honda. 2025 is their las year together in the sport as they are set to move to Aston martins from 2026. So, winning their last home race together is the perfects end off gift he can give according to Verstappen.

It was in the back of my mind as well, you know, in those last few laps, I was like, well, I need to try and stay ahead. It would be a great story, our final kind of farewell race together with Honda here in Japan, and I’m incredibly proud of what we have achieved over all those years together. I think this is like a perfect send-off dream result.
Max Verstappen said.
The comments from the champion driver shows his confidence in Honda and how thankful he is to them for helping him to dominate the sport. But it’s just the beginning for Red Bull, as McLaren will be looking for revenge next week and they should be ready to face it.
