Max Verstappen dominated Formula 1 in the past two seasons. The Dutch driver was seemingly in a league of his own against the rest of the grid. This form carried on in the start of the 2024 season. However, it seems that Verstappen alone cannot bag the title.

Red Bull is going through a major slump in performance in recent months. Max Verstappen has gone winless for more than five races for the first time since 2020. The reigning world champion even admitted that the title victory seems unrealistic at this moment.

Milton Keynes is aware that the RB20 is facing severe balance issues, something which Max Verstappen’s father Jos Verstappen claims that his son knew about. However, the team allegedly ignored his complaints. Now, Red Bull must act quickly to get things back on track.

Max Verstappen simply not enough in fight against McLaren

Verstappen has won seven races this season and still leads Lando Norris by 62 points in the standings. However, the reigning world champion has become frustrated with the car balance. Max Verstappen cannot keep using his sheer pace to get victories when the competition is so far ahead.

Helmut Marko even admitted that Red Bull needs to give him a good car to keep him in contention for the title. Max Verstappen has overdrove the RB20 so far this year with consistent results which were not possible for any other driver. As such, Milton Keynes needs to push itself in the coming weeks to get the most out of the car and fix its issues.

Certainly, Max Verstappen and Red Bull have a tough few races ahead with McLaren closing in on both titles. If the Austrian team does not find a solution, Verstappen’s campaign could fall apart in a couple of races. As such, it remains to be seen how things pan out for the reigning world champions.
