McLaren driver Lando Norris won the Sprint race at Interlagos, surpassing his teammate Oscar Piastri. Norris has now amassed eight out of a total of 34 points ahead of the main Brazilian Grand Prix on Sunday.

Oscar Piastri was, however, mistaken as the winner by a reporter during the post-sprint conference at Interlagos. His teammate Lando Norris, along with Max Verstappen, found the interviewer’s mistake hilarious.

Piastri was nevertheless respectful and thanked the reporter sarcastically for her regards. The 23-year-old finished P2 to lock out a 1-2 McLaren finish ahead of an important qualifying for the race on Sunday.

The Woking-based team will now turn their focus to keeping up their good form to perform even better in qualifying. With both championships still very much in contention, the two drivers will aim to finish 1-2 in the race as well.

Andrea Stella applauds Red Bull and Max Verstappen for Sprint performance

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella shared his thoughts on the Sprint race after his team clinched a 1-2 finish in Interlagos. Max Verstappen finished P3 despite facing issues with his RB20 throughout the weekend.

We have to acknowledge that Red Bull were fast today. Well done to them. They seem to be struggling, but when it’s time to deliver a result, they do it. They are world champions, Verstappen is the world champion, no suprise.

Andrea Stella applauded Red Bull for their performance, deeming that the world champions deliver when they need to. He also reaffirmed Verstappen’s skill and pace, stating that the Dutchman always performs no matter the circumstance.

Red Bull and McLaren are separated by 54 points, with the latter leading the constructors’ championship. Up next awaits qualifying in Interlagos, which will test the single-lap pace of the various teams on soft tires.
