Sergio Perez celebrates his win with the team while ignoring Jos Verstappen
Sergio Perez was the man of the hour today as he went on to win the 2023 Saudi Arabian GP. After getting his first pole position in the pinnacle of motorsport at Jeddah in 2022, this win was a long-awaited one. After failing to achieve that feat last year, the ‘Mexican minister of Defence’ was finally able to do it this year. The race itself had a lot of drama to offer.
Max Verstappen was the favorite to win the Saudi Arabian GP. Unfortunately, his grid penalty and issues with the driveshaft meant that the best he could do was finish second behind his teammate. While it was a tough race to swallow for Max, his father on the other hand had an even tougher time coming to grips. It is pretty well known how wholesome of a character Sergio Perez’s father is and it was evident in Mexico in 2021. Checo’s dad was equally happy for his son and Max as they celebrated their victory.
However, the same reaction was not expected from Jos Verstappen who doesn’t really show many emotions except anger. Fans were quick to notice Jos in parc ferme with the whole team during the celebrations. While Checo was hugging the crew, Jos did not even bother to give the race winner a pat on the back. In return, he was entirely ignored by Perez who went on to celebrate with his team members.

Fans react as Sergio Perez ignores Jos Verstappen during the post race celebrations
If you compare it with Anthony Hamilton, the difference is massive. Lewis Hamilton’s dad congratulated Jos in 2021 after his son beat Lewis in the championship in the final lap. On the other hand, Jos Verstappen wasn’t even able to garner a smile for his son’s teammate who had worked so hard. Fans were not at all happy with Sr Verstappen and his behavioral toward Sergio Perez. However, it doesn’t seem to be something that will bother the Mexicans anytime soon.
