Red Bull is currently undergoing an extremely unstable period, especially in terms of performance. Multiple key figures have already exited the team, with even Max Verstappen being rumored to switch constructors as soon as the 2026 season. However, Christian Horner’s sudden exit could entice Verstappen to contemplate his future. Amid the troubles, Red Bull’s own four-time F1 champion Sebastian Vettel is speculated to return to Milton Keynes for a leadership role. Now, the 38-year-old has revealed his interest in initiating talks with the Austrian outfit.
Sebastian Vettel achieved great success with Red Bull from 2010 to 2013, winning four consecutive championships. However, the German was then unable to score well in the 2014 season with Milton Keynes, as he ultimately switched to Ferrari with great hopes. Despite being hot off a championship streak, Vettel failed to fare well at the Italian constructor as he couldn’t win another championship again. Even though the 38-year-old ditched the Austrian outfit, he remained on great terms with the entire crew.
Sebastian Vettel was already rumored to be returning to Red Bull in a more powerful role, as he even confirmed having a conversation with the outfit. Many people believed that Vettel was on bad terms with Red Bull and Co. as he abruptly exited the team. However, the 38-year-old asserted that he had a great time with the Austrian outfit as he held no grudges with them. On top of that, Vettel has had a great relationship with everyone in the team ever since his exit in 2015.
I had a great time and I still have a great relationship with all the people I was involved with at the time.
Sebastian Vettel said on the ORF Sport am Sonntag podcast
Vettel insisted that he had fun at Ferrari even though he couldn’t amass any notable results in terms of championships. The German reassured that an important part of his life remained at Red Bull despite leaving them due to reliability issues. As such, the 38-year-old’s return to the Austrian outfit wouldn’t be completely unexpected as his good relations could see him take on a leadership role within the team.
Even though I later had a lot of fun at Ferrari, an important part of me still identifies with Red Bull and Red Bull Racing.

Sebastian Vettel asserts he ‘doesn’t regret’ switching to Ferrari
Sebastian Vettel amassed over 38 race wins and four championship titles during his stint at Red Bull. However, his results drastically deteriorated at Ferrari as he achieved only 14 wins in the six years he raced for the Prancing Horse. Despite failing to achieve his dream at Maranello, Vettel insists that he doesn’t regret the switch in teams, as he made a big move in his career.

Speaking of the switch to Ferrari, Vettel appreciated his time at Red Bull, more so after going through the struggles with the Italian outfit. The 38-year-old emphasized that he would have left Red Bull differently if he could go back in time and go through it all again. The German asserted that he wouldn’t stick to the clauses as strictly as he did back then when he quit Milton Keynes due to the persistent issues.
I don’t regret that passage itself. I think it brought me a lot in terms of experience and understanding of what I had at Red Bull at the time. I think the human element has been lost a bit. I have stuck too closely to certain agreements. I think it would have been more decent to just say it and maybe not stick to this clause.
Sebastian Vettel noted
Red Bull’s problematic state in recent years could see a great turnaround if Sebastian Vettel joins forces with other great figures in the team. The team has accepted its shortcomings and is working hard to recover from the massive performance slump. Even Max Verstappen is giving it his all to improve the state, as the Dutchman could work closely with Vettel and further improve the team’s state as soon as the 2026 season.
