Toto Wolff reveals Mercedes’ improvement does not influence signing decisions

Mercedes team principal, Toto Wolff has yet to make a concrete statement regarding the negotiations with different drivers for a seat at the team in 2025. Wolff, however, has clarified that a recent upturn in Mercedes’ form will not be a potent factor in influencing his decision regarding signing a new driver.

I don’t think... it doesn’t influence our thinking. I’ve always said we need a car that goes quick and when we have a car that goes quick, it gets interesting for many drivers. But, in a way, I think we need to stay calm and continue the season, continue to focus on the car and then look at whether the options are still the same.

Toto Wolff has made it clear to the media and has since rubbished any and all rumors as such regarding the driver for 2025. Moreover, he has asserted that negotiations of any sort will go on in an impartial manner and with the best interests of Mercedes in mind.

The Brackley-based team currently stands fourth in the championship behind McLaren, Ferrari, and Red Bull, but has been showing convincing signs of improvement since the past few races. If the Silver Arrows manage to carry forward their improvements, the German team is likely to become a competitor for the top places in the title race within a few months.
