This is how it is, since we were racing go karts until now, the fights are always very intense. All the top drivers push in the same way, I wouldn't say some more than others.
Sergio Perez added.

Sergio Perez claimed it was ‘normal’ to ‘push so hard’ while racing in F1

Max Verstappen is one of the strongest drivers present on the F1 grid. Hence, Norris coming close to the Dutchman meant that even he was driving extremely well around the circuit. However, the Briton would have to push much harder to match if not surpass the Dutchman in terms of pace and performance.

Perez pointed out that the drivers were the selected few driving in the pinnacle of the motorsport. As a result, all the drivers pushed as hard as they physically could just to score some better results. So, it was expected and very normal for Verstappen and Norris to push so hard against each other while racing against one another.

Let's remember that we are at the top level of the sport. Everyone is pushing as hard as they can to get the best result, so it's a very normal thing.
Sergio Perez noted.

Max Verstappen has continued to score impressive results amidst Red Bull’s struggling pace. The Dutchman has ensured to maximize Red Bull’s points over the multiple race weekends. Hence, McLaren and Red Bull will continue to showcase the cut-throat competition with one another for the rest of the 2024 season.
