The Red Bull Formula 1 team has not had the best of times in the 2024 season. After winning seven of the first 10 races, the team has fallen drastically and is no longer the benchmark in the sport. Amidst the ongoing struggles, Sergio Perez has joked that Max Verstappen is also not focused, just like him.

Sergio Perez had a decent start to the campaign but after the initial few rounds, he hasn’t done anything noteworthy. On the other hand, Max Verstappen had a decent run till round 10, during which he amassed seven victories.

However, since then, things have gone downhill for Verstappen and Red Bull. Seeing the incessant struggles, Perez has taken the time to come up with a hilarious remark.

I was focused. I wasn’t distracted. I wasn’t thinking on other stuff out of racing. It’s what people say basically, you know, that when I was not doing well, that I was not focused, I was thinking too much on other stuff. So maybe that was the improvement. Maybe he’s also not focused or something on the racing.

Perez via his comments, has come after his critics. There was a point before the summer break, where it was heavily speculated that the Mexican was going to get dropped ahead of the 2024 Dutch GP. The 34-year-old has never really felt comfortable in the cockpit of the RB20 and the same kind of issues have started haunting Verstappen, especially since the last few races.

The 2024 Formula 1 season has only six races remaining. Verstappen has his drivers’ championship battles to take care of against Lando Norris and for Perez, the task will be to help his teammate close the gap as much as possible in both championships.

Several teams are speculated to bring major upgrades to next week’s United States Grand Prix. Keeping this in view, the three-day event at the Circuit of the Americas will be an extremely crucial one, especially for the top three teams.
