The Red Bull F1 team has had a pretty up-and-down 2024 F1 season. After 10 rounds the team has won seven and lost out on three and with the Austrian GP just around the corner, Sergio Perez has urged his team to keep its head in the game.

The Lando Norris-led McLaren outfit has been catching up to the leading outfits at the rate of knots. In recent races, the Brit has proved to be Max Verstappen and Red Bulls’ biggest challenger for Grand Prix wins.

Sergio Perez has taken note of this fact and thus feels, it is important that the Milton-Keynes-based team can maximize its package.

McLaren has been performing solidly on different layouts lately. I think it will look better for us if we can maximize our package. The season is still long, so we have to keep our heads down. McLaren is faster at the moment, but the margins are so small that everything can change again with an upgrade.
Sergio Perez said in an interview with Racingnews365

Looking at the reaction of the 34-year-old, it is quite clear that he has openly acknowledged that McLaren currently boasts of the best package (MCL38) on the grid. However, he has also admitted the balance of power can shift the moment Red Bull brings an upgrade on the RB20.

Sergio Perez showers praise on ‘incredible’ Max Verstappen

While Perez has urged his team to give their all going forward, he has also taken the time to talk about his sensational teammate, Max Verstappen. The Dutchman once again has been in scintillating form during the ongoing campaign.

All seven of Red Bull’s victories have been amassed by the three-time world champion.

Max is performing at an incredibly high level. If I had another teammate, everything would look different. He has been my teammate for four seasons now, so it is a great challenge.
Sergio Perez said in the same interview

Max Verstappen is currently leading the driver’s championship with 219 points. Lando Norris is in second with 150 and in third place is Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. Perez, on his part, is currently in fifth place, way behind his teammate.

Keeping in view everything that has been discussed, it is high time that along with Verstappen, Perez also starts putting in consistent performances. This year, it just won’t be possible for the 26-year-old to singlehandedly keep Red Bull in front in both world championships.
