Red Bull Racing driver, Sergio Perez has called for Red Bull to remain patient to grasp the opportunities after a challenging Barcelona qualifying session. Perez qualified in eighth place yesterday but is forced to start from P11 after receiving a three-place grid penalty.

Red Bull has failed to achieve pole position for the third race in a row this season. Qualifying has generally proved to be a strong suit for the Milton-Keynes outfit but despite being at their very best, it was McLaren’s Lando Norris who managed to take pole in Barcelona by edging out Max Verstappen by just a hundredth of a second.

We have to be patient and be ready when the opportunity arises. We have made some good changes so we should be on the right track for Sunday. It will be a difficult race from P11 with the grid penalty and it will be very important to be patient and get the right opportunities, especially if it’s wet because anything can happen.

Peres is currently fifth in the drivers’ championship and has not been able to score points in the past two race weekends due to unfortunate DNFs. The Mexican driver will now chase a more fruitful result in Barcelona in an attempt to score a podium.

Sergio Perez shares details regarding poor qualifying run in Barcelona

Unfortunately, my final sector was in Q3 a little bit too poor. I lost a bit too much compared to myself. I think we could have been a lot closer. We only had one single set, so that made things a little bit tricky. The wind changed a bit. But overall, I think we've been a little bit too far [away] this weekend.
Sergio Perez said during his post qualifying interview

Sergio Perez performed more convincingly during the ongoing weekend as compared to the previous three but remained almost four-tenths shy of the front-row performers. The six-time race winner confirmed that the final sector in Q3 was a poor attempt from his side which hindered his lap times greatly in the final third.

The Mexican driver also asserted that the lack of fresh tires and greater wind speeds during the latter part of Q3 added to the trickiness of qualifying in Barcelona. Perez exclaimed that the margins on Sunday will be very small and a competitive race will unfold at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
