Sergio Perez‘s disastrous form in the 2024 season has caused massive problems for Red Bull in their constructors’ championship ambitions. The Mexican driver’s failing performances have allowed rumors to flourish regarding his sacking. Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda remained the front-runners for replacing Perez if he were to be ousted.

With the season finale right around the corner, Red Bull has to make a decision quickly. Liam Lawson‘s mid-season entry to RB in the 2024 season has put some good performances. Yuki Tsunoda, despite being unfavored for the move to Red Bull, might have a shot after testing with the team. Hence, major publications report that Perez’s sacking is already in the works.

As per the reports, Sergio Perez is likely to be replaced by Lawson at Red Bull in the coming season. Moreover, current F2 driver Isack Hadjar will be promoted to Red Bull’s sister team Racing Bulls (or RB) in the coming season. This means that the Mexican driver will be completely out of the sport with no vacancy in any teams. Despite the massive financial backing from the 34-year-old, his performances will become the cause of his destruction in the sport.

Christian Horner asserts ‘not nice situation’ for Sergio Perez to be in

Sergio Perez is desperately behind the leading pack of the drivers standing in P8 after scoring just 152 points. Despite Red Bull’s secrecy regarding Perez’s sacking, a final decision has been arrived at. The team’s boss Christian Horner reckoned that he would allow the Mexican to come to his own conclusion. Horner made it clear that the 34-year-old was not being coerced into a decision by anyone.

I’m going to let Checo [Pérez] come to his own conclusions, nobody’s forcing him one way or another.

Perez had landed a multi-year contract extension in 2024, locking him with the team at least for 2026. This means that even if he is ousted from the team, he will be provided with an ambassadorial role much like Daniel Ricciardo. Regardless, Horner believed that the 34-year-old was in a bad situation following such performances throughout the season.

It’s not a nice situation for him to obviously be in.

Christian Horner noted

Red Bull might face an extremely torrid time in the final season of the ground-effect era. Several key personnel have already left the team during their trying times. Moreover, the team continues to be the center of controversies since the beginning of the 2024 season. Hence, Milton Keynes needs to have a better grip on the team and personnel in the coming season.
