Silverstone MD, Stuart Pringle has opened up on the struggles of selling tickets for the upcoming British Grand Prix due to the rising trend of Red Bull’s dominance in F1. Silverstone is the home race for the Mercedes drivers, George Russell and Lewis Hamilton.
Mercedes dominated the enterprise of the 2010s, winning six world championships with Lewis Hamilton as their top performer, winning a record eight times in Silverstone. However, ever since the change of regulations in 2022, the Silver Arrows have not been at their astronomical best, which has allowed Red Bull to take over the F1 championship three times in the past three years.
Stuart Pringle indicated that whilst there was a subtle period in which Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes performed year in and year out, a period has now come in which tickets are hard to sell given the dominance of Max Verstappen and Red Bull, who won in Silverstone last year. Pringle asserted that it is much harder to sell tickets as a British promoter now that a British driver is not dominating F1 like before.
I do recognize that we had several years of a British driver dominating, and we didn't mind that as a British promoter! It's certainly been a lot harder with Red Bull dominating.Stuart Pringle via Motorsport
