Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has conveyed an open desire to sign F2 sensation Andrea Kimi Antonelli for a long time. The Silver Arrows are yet to decide on their driver lineup for the 2025 F1 season.

Kimi Antonelli would pair alongside George Russell if the Brackley-based team signs him for next year. Russell has been in good form ever since his debut for Mercedes in 2022 and has also scored 116 points this season.

The criteria for our next driver is simple: We want the best driver available. At the moment, my first option is Kimi Antonelli. Of course, there are risks. They are not so much in his talent as a driver, but Antonelli would be exposed to the media and to the skill of George Russell, one of the best drivers on the grid.
Toto Wolff spoke to Autosport Wereld

Kimi Antonelli must now continue to work hard to achieve good results to earn a promotion to F1. On the other hand, George Russell also aims for an upward trajectory as the current season approaches the second half of the campaign.

It's been a while since I fought for the title, but I think there was a point where I was 40 points behind. McLaren is performing very well, so it's not impossible. But it will be a very, very big challenge.

Lewis Hamilton has spoken highly of McLaren in light of their performances this season. The seven-time world champion reminded the Papayas of a time when he trailed the title race by a significant margin yet managed to secure the title.

In doing so, Hamilton showed the Woking-based outfit the possibility of overcoming their deficit with faith and confidence in themselves. McLaren will now seek to perform like never before to secure the title during the second half of the season.
