The Singapore GP is one of the toughest races on the F1 calendar. Drivers go through extreme temperatures in the cockpit and could lose up to two kilograms of weight during the race. Mercedes drivers, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell were the most affected at this year’s race. Team boss Toto Wolff gave a health update of his two drivers at the end of the weekend.

Hamilton and Russell were completely exhausted after the race in Marina Bay. George Russell could barely get out of his car in Parc ferme. As such, both drivers were forced to skip the media session post-race, with Toto Wolff appearing as the sole representative of the Brackley-based squad. Lewis Hamilton even admitted that he failed to express his emotions after the race.

Wolff highlighted that both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell did not feel well. The Austrian boss claimed that the two drivers suffered from a borderline heatstroke during the race. Hamilton and Russell were provided water right after the end of the race. However, Toto Wolff clarified that the two were not in a position to go to the media pen.

They did not feel well, borderline heatstroke or something like that but they have had water. They would not have been able to go to the [media] pen.

Toto Wolff asserted that there were no hard feelings behind Hamilton and Russell’s absence from the media pen. This comes at a time when drivers are not happy with the FIA’s swearing ban. However, the Mercedes boss mentioned that his two drivers were being checked by doctors and were now feeling good once again.

There were no bad feelings or any annoyance. It is just that we had the doctors with them. But they are all good.
Toto Wolff explained

Fans were concerned about the two Mercedes drivers’ health following the Marina Bay race. Thankfully, both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell are okay and will take some much-needed rest. Both drivers have a long break ahead to recover before F1 returns with the US GP in a month’s time.
