Mercedes was lacking behind in performance at the beginning of the season. The W15 announced for the 2024 season seemed to be as bad as last year’s car. However, as the season progressed Mercedes kept on bringing new upgrade packages, which helped George Russell clinching pole in Canada. The Silver Arrows also managed to win the races at Austria and Silverstone. These improvements were really impressive. Now, Toto Wolff claimed they have addressed and solved all the issues related to W15.

Toto Wolff explained that while Mercedes successfully addressed the main issues of the W14 during the winter, allowing for some improvement, they discovered new critical challenges with the W15. Their initial goal was to fix the problems of the W14, which they achieved. However, in the process of developing the W15, these efforts revealed additional areas needing attention, which they hadn’t anticipated.

Our goal over the winter was to solve the underlying problems of the W14, and we succeeded, but we found new critical points.

Toto Wolff explained that solving many problems helped the team understand the car’s performance issues more clearly. As they ticked all the problems, they found fewer major issues remaining. This process helped the team to identify the root causes more effectively. Therefore, they focused on resolving the remaining issues. Wolff mentioned that this approach gave them a clearer picture of what they needed to fix, which enabled them to make progress in improving the car’s overall performance.

As we went along, we realized what we were doing wrong . From that point on, we made solid steps forward. We saw that in China, where Lewis Hamilton’s second place in the Sprint was a very good performance and gave a good indication of the potential of the W15.
Toto Wolff stated.

Even though they had started improving their car’s performance earlier, the race in China was the one that showed their car’s capabilities. These improvements gave them a good result in Austria and Britain. Fans hope the Silver arrows perform the same in the upcoming races. This will make the competition tough and exciting as four teams would be competing for the title.
