While the shenanigans between Max Verstappen and George Russell have been boiling over the incident in Qatar GP, their team principals have been fighting out the battle off the track similarly. This seemingly intrigued Red Bull supremo Christian Horner to join in on the mind games, which Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff did not like.
Wolff took a jibe back at his counterpart by claiming Horner to be a yapping little terrier. The bad air between Max Verstappen and George Russell from the incident in Qatar was thought to have cleared. However, Verstappen doubled down on Russell’s seemingly hypocritical actions.
This led the Mercedes driver to dive into the deep end of allegations. Ahead of the Abu Dhabi GP this weekend, this issue got more air time from Toto Wolff. The 52-year-old took a jibe at Christian Horner for labeling the 26-year-old’s actions “hysterical” and compared him to a yapping terrier.
The saga between Verstappen and Russell has reminded people about the feud between Red Bull and Mercedes in 2021. Furthermore, this could reignite the rivalry with a different Mercedes driver heading the front this time.
George Russell asserts that he is not going to ignore Max Verstappen’s behavior
Though no one knows which driver is telling the true story, George Russell is refusing to back down amidst immense pressure from Max Verstappen. The Mercedes driver is also thought to have taken matters into his own hands to stop the Dutchman’s alleged bullying behavior.
Russell clarified how the minor altercation in Qatar was never meant to extend to this degree. He also said that he would not back down now.
Despite the clash between the two titans, their fight would not affect the constructors’ championship as the fight for the title remains between McLaren and Ferrari. All eyes will be glued on those two teams come race day.
