Lewis Hamilton has endured an extremely challenging debut season with Ferrari in 2025. The Briton has failed to achieve any notable results so far, and his best finish is only a sprint race win in China. Hamilton has shifted his focus to the coming season and emerging as a winning force by then. Until then, his former Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas provided some words of affirmation to the 40-year-old.

Lewis Hamilton did not hesitate to accept the unexpected issues that he faced at Ferrari. The seven-time champion had hoped to contend for his record-breaking eighth title with the Italian constructor.

However, he has failed to do so in the first 18 rounds of the 2025 season. With the uncertainity of the new regulations in the coming season, Valtteri Bottas believes that Hamilton can still improve his image at the Scuderia.

Valtteri Bottas, who had a great partnership with Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes, isn’t leaving the latter at a difficult stage in his life. Hamilton had already talked highly about Bottas’ move to Cadillac in 2026, deeming it a great move.

Now, the Finn noted that he hoped for the 40-year-old to bounce back at Ferrari. He acknowledged that the Briton faced some good moments, but had a lot of challenges as well.

Further, Valtteri Bottas continued that it was bound to be tricky for Lewis Hamilton to be a lead man at Ferrari after being at Mercedes for so long. Bottas insisted that the Briton was facing a completely different environment at the Italian squad. Regardless, the 36-year-old declared that he hoped for Hamilton to turn things around and score good results as he deserved.

I hope he will bounce back. But time will show if he will. He’s had some good moments, a bit of bad luck as well, But it’s tricky. It’s not easy changing a team after such a long time at Mercedes, being kind of the lead man. It’s a very different environment that he’s working with now. I can’t really say much more than say time will show if things go better or not. But I really hope so because I think he deserves still great results in this sport.

Valtteri Bottas told Crash.net.

Valtteri Bottas predicts ‘hard time’ for Lewis Hamilton with regulation change

The new regulations will come into effect in the 2026 season, and it could go either way for Lewis Hamilton. Although his priority is set on coming up as a winning force by then, it all depends on the challenger developed by Ferrari. As such, Valtteri Bottas predicted how the upcoming regulation change can play out for the seven-time champion.

Valtteri Bottas reckoned that a driver’s dominance under new regulations depended on the team and the car they developed. However, per his own experience, he believed that it could be tricky for Lewis Hamilton to excel during a regulation change. Bottas accepted that it was hard to predict Hamilton’s chances to succeed, as he was unaware of the ways of operation of the Scuderia.

It depends on which team you go to and how different is the car. I’ve had my experiences, but normally it’s been actually during a regulation change. So for me it’s hard to predict. I don’t know inside the team how they operate, how they work and what the struggles are. So I can’t really say much more than that, really.

Valtteri Bottas noted.

The 2025 season has been extremely challenging for Lewis Hamilton. The Briton even lost his beloved pet dog Roscoe in the past couple of weeks. As such, the current time is very difficult for Hamilton. But, he will showcase great resilience and bounce back soon and return to his winning ways in the pinnacle of motorsport.
