Max Verstappen suffered from a major loss in lap time towards the final stages of Q2 after being impeded by Lewis Hamilton. The Briton was on a slow lap around the Massanet corner and, due to miscommunication with the pit wall, got in the way of Verstappen unintentionally. After this, the Dutchman commented against Hamilton with some strong words and was visibly frustrated. Still, the two met up after the session and made up with one another to sort out any grudges.
Lewis Hamilton will have to show up to the stewards’ room after the culmination of the Qualifying session for impeding Max Verstappen on a fast lap. Reportedly, Hamilton was informed by his race engineer Ricciardo Adami about the Dutchman being over three seconds behind and on a slow lap too. However, as depicted by the events, Verstappen was right on his tail and lost crucial time due to being impeded.
Max Verstappen immediately took to the team radio and lashed out at Lewis Hamilton for impeding the former. While the comments made sense in the moment, the Dutchman was unaware of the miscommunication. Regardless, both drivers made it into Q3 and had a fair shot at fighting for the pole position. Now, as Lando Norris achieved the pole, both Hamilton and Verstappen meet one another and clear the issue.
Hamilton approached Verstappen first as the latter just took off his helmet and was preparing for the post-session interviews. The seven-time champion put forth his hands and shook them with the Dutchman following the incident. The reigning world champion did not hesitate and shook hands with the Briton as he seemingly forgave the former for the impeding accident.

Max Verstappen labels P5 qualifying ‘normal’ for Red Bull
Max Verstappen’s performance throughout the weekend remained mediocre as he failed to achieve a front-row start. Lewis Hamilton’s incident did not cause him much problems as he cleared the Q2 session despite the incident. Now, after qualifying in only P5, Verstappen has issued an uninterested statement about his chances to succeed on Sunday.

Owing to the struggles faced early on this weekend, Verstappen reckons that his struggles in performance were evident from the beginning of the qualifying session. The Dutchman pointed out that he was immediately not in contention for pole position from the beginning. As such, the reigning world champion labeled his mediocre P5 start as ‘normal’ as he aims to work hard on Sunday now.
As soon as we started quali you immediately saw that we were not in it. So, then P5 is just normal.
Max Verstappen said in a post-qualifying interview

The Monaco GP, despite being one of the oldest racing venues in Formula 1, is notoriously known for being too boring for the drivers. Still, a two-stop rule might create some excitement and racing action as Verstappen loses hope of emerging victorious. Red Bull must now return to the factory and keep working on the challenger as the high of the Emilia-Romagna GP victory wears off now.
