Lando Norris and McLaren have had a decent start to the 2024 season. The Woking-based team had high expectations heading into the Miami GP. The British team was believed to be right behind Ferrari in race-pace. Unfortunately, Norris missed out on a handful of points in the sprint race due to Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll.

The McLaren driver started the Sprint race from P9 behind the two Aston Martin cars. Lando Norris had a great start as the five red lights went out. The Briton went on the outside to overtake Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso. However, Stroll ended up making contact with Norris, forcing the MCL38 to spin out of the race.

Lando Norris’ came to a halt in the run-off area. The McLaren driver had no choice but to leave the car as his hopes of scoring a couple of points came to an end. On the other hand, Lance Stroll came back into the pits to retire his AMR24 after sustaining damage from this incident.

Norris got out of the MCL38 and walked to get back to the pits. Although, it must be noted that the Safety Car had been called out after Norris; retirement. Nevertheless, the FIA was not happy with the Briton’s decision to walk on the track during the session. Subsequently, race control have decided to investigate this decision.

The Briton would be hoping to move on from this incident before Qualifying. Lando Norris’ teammate Oscar Piastri finished the sprint in P6, bringing McLaren two points. However, the Woking-based team would be focusing on fixing Norris’ car before the next session in just a few hours time.

Certainly, Lando Norris and McLaren have faced a setback. However, Norris has shown promising pace. As such, the British team could expect to qualify in the Top 6 for the main race. Although, there are no doubts that there will be fierce competition in the main race on Sunday.
