Lando Norris and McLaren have had a mixed bag of a season in 2024. The British driver found himself in contention for the world title for the first time in his career. Unfortunately, the 25-year-old failed to stop Max Verstappen from a fourth championship in a row.

Verstappen took the 2024 title at the Las Vegas GP with two races to spare. Lando Norris could not manage to close in on the Dutch driver in the standings. Although, Norris had shown promising pace with a handful of victories for McLaren.

Lando Norris needs to change himself for 2025 title bid

McLaren will likely continue fighting for race victories in 2025. However, it is Lando Norris who will need to step up his game to stay in contention. Oscar Piastri will be pushing himself to the limit next year to ensure he doesn’t need to follow team orders from the Woking pit wall.

Moreover, Norris needs to stop being too self critical in the media. Many pundits have blamed the 25-year-old’s negative comments. This undoubtedly demotivates him mentally. On the other hand, Max Verstappen knows how to deal with high pressure situations without breaking.

This was the major difference between the two drivers when it came to on-track clashes. Lando Norris seemed to be much more worried while Verstappen was ready to focus on the next challenge. Ultimately, it was the Red Bull driver who won the world title.

Lando Norris will be working hard over the winter break to improve himself. The McLaren driver now understands the pressure of a title fight. Subsequently, the Briton will come back stronger and know how to better deal with certain situations. Fans can expect Norris to put up a stiffer challenge for the championship next season.
