Alonso was competing with Renault during that time. Everything had changed drastically since then except for Fernando Alonso’s hunger to succeed.

Despite being 41 years old, age isn’t a determining factor in his performance. While many in the paddock cannot survive in the pinnacle of motorsport after turning 30, Alonso is proving everyone wrong. Even at his age, the Spanish driver competes in every race like it’s his last. The sheer grit that Fernando has is unmatched in the paddock and has led him to great success.

During his first race with the British team, the Spaniard went on to finish P3 and achieve a podium finish. The Spaniard went on to shine during the 2021 Qatar GP. Having been promoted to third after engine penalties struck Max Verstappen and Valtteri Bottas. The then Alpine driver went on to pull off a one stop strategy as he went on to finish in the same position that he started in. Everyone was impressed by the 41 year old’s performance. However, compared to many of his age, he didn’t take long to get another podium.

The Aston Martin seems to have made some significant gains before the season started. This was evident as the team finished p3 with Alonso and p6 with Stroll. This furthermore puts them on the top spot as they are in 2nd place in the standings. However, Red Bull and Max Verstappen seem to be the ones to beat as they achieved a 1-2 finish during the season opening Bahrain GP.

While Fernando Alonso seems to have gotten a great start for the 2023 F1 season, a lot of responsibility lies on him to push through the season with the same momentum. It is crucial that the consistency is there, otherwise is could become like a RP-2020 scenario. All is to play for in 2023.
