Carlos Sainz‘s future in F1 remains a highly talked about topic. The Spaniard is yet to finalize his team for the coming season. Hence, the 29-year-old could face a dire situation of having no seats available to take if he delays his plans. However, amidst the uncertainty, Williams came up with a lucrative offer for Sainz.

Carlos Sainz has been rumored to be the prime candidate for multiple teams ever since Lewis Hamilton announced his Ferrari move. The Spaniard also received a two-week ultimatum from Audi to join the team by the coming season. However, the 29-year-old decided to play the waiting game and not respond to the contract offer. Helmut Marko had also pointed out that Red Bull couldn’t match Audi’s offer for Sainz to join the Austrian constructor.

According to reports, Williams also matched Audi’s ‘perfect two-year’ contract to convince the Spaniard to join. Hence, if the rumors are true, the fans can expect a final announcement as early as the Spanish GP.

F1 Presenter claims Carlos Sainz ‘locked in’ for signing Williams deal

Multiple people believe that signing with Williams would be a great downgrade from Ferrari. However, signing with Williams for two years until the end of 2026 would further set the Spaniard free for 2027. Hence, Sainz could then join a team that has performed well during the new set of regulations in the 2026 season. Amidst this F1 presenter, Steve Jones believes a final decision is already in the works.

Hence, the 47-year-old claimed that it was evident that the Ferrari driver would soon move to Grove in the pinnacle of motorsport for a long-term goal.

Very graceful. Very classy. I expected nothing less. Just after that interview, the rumours started to swirl that Sainz might be joining Williams. It's really interesting to hear him talk about a long-term project with a team. In short, he's going to Williams. It's locked in.
Steve Jones told Channel 4.

Carlos Sainz has decided to hold complete silence over his contractual talks with any of the teams. The 29-year-old could drop a bombshell amidst the ongoing 2024 season for his team. Hence, the entire paddock is eagerly waiting for the final call from the Spaniard. As things are, Sainz has fewer chances of scoring a seat at Mercedes or Red Bull.
