Honda prodigy Yuki Tsunoda made his F1 debut with AlphaTauri (now RB) in 2021. The Japanese driver has managed to deliver consistent results since. Tsunoda has even improved drastically when it came to his outbursts on team radio. However, it seems that Red Bull’s future plans do not involve the 24-year-old.

When Red Bull signed Nyck de Vries to partner Tsunoda in 2023, many believed that the ex-Formula E and Formula 2 champion will dominate at AlphaTauri. However, Yuki Tsunoda surprised the entire paddock by annihilating his teammate. Moreover, the Japanese driver has outperformed 8-time race winner Daniel Ricciardo so far this season.

Yuki Tsunoda’s on-track results this season are a testament to his stellar pace and maturity. However, it appears that the 24-year-old has no real shot at replacing Sergio Perez at Red Bull next season. As such, it might be time for Tsunoda to get out of the Red Bull family to save his career at the pinnacle of motorsport.

There are no doubts that Honda’s relationship with Red Bull allowed Yuki Tsunoda to enter F1 in 2021. The 24-year-old is believed to be have the support of the Japanese carmaker which allegedly brings in millions for RB. However, with Honda switching to Aston Martin in 2026, Red Bull will have no real incentive to retain Tsunoda at its sister team.

Milton Keynes has showed no interest in promoting the Japanese driver beside Max Verstappen. Moreover, Red Bull has the likes of Liam Lawson waiting to get a full-time seat. As such, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Yuki Tsunoda get axed from RB in the coming seasons for a Red Bull junior. Previously, Tsunoda was rumored to be in contention for a 2026 Aston Martin seat.

However, things have become tricky after Fernando Alonso signed an extension with the Silverstone-based team. Subsequently, rumors have emerged that Yuki Tsunoda is willing to move to Haas in a bid to secure his career in the pinnacle of motorsport. The Japanese driver himself has admitted that he is open to rival teams if he doesn’t get assurance from Red Bull.

Certainly, a move to a small team like Haas would not be an upgrade for Yuki Tsunoda. However, it would allow the Japanese driver to remain in the sport and showcase his skills to the rest of the grid. As such, perhaps moving away from Red Bull could finally open up opportunities for Tsunoda to race at the front of the grid.
