Sergio Perez’s performance slump at Red Bull indicated that he could be replaced after the summer break. Yuki Tsunoda, Daniel Ricciardo and Liam Lawson were the drivers rumored to replace the Mexican. However, Red Bull decided not to take this action and let Perez drive through the season, hoping for a better performance. Tsunoda recently claimed he’s not worried anymore about taking Checo’s seat at Red Bull.

Yuki Tsunoda mentioned that he does think about the possibility of moving to Red Bull but isn’t really worried about it. He explained he would handle a move to Milton Keynes with the same focus and dedication as his current role. The 24-year-old would continue to focus on his driving and performance just like he does in RB now. Tsunoda felt confident his approach and dedication would remain consistent, whether he stays where he is or gets a promotion next to Max Verstappen.

I think those things, I'm not really worried about it. Again, what I would have to do if I stepped up to Red Bull is exactly the same as what I'm doing right now.

The Japanese driver said that despite Red Bull’s situation and increased pressure, his main goals and work remain unchanged. Tsunoda showed no worry about his future location, focusing instead on consistent effort and improvement in his performance. However, If the opportunity arises to drive for Red Bull alongside Verstappen, The 24-year-old is prepared to handle it by sticking to his usual approach and goals.

Yuki Tsunoda reveals having discussions with Red Bull over his future

Yuki Tsunoda explained that he had some talks regarding his performance with team principal Christian Horner and Helmut Marko. However, he mentioned the talks weren’t very important or focused on his future. He emphasized that both Marko and Horner told him to keep focusing on his performance and continue his current approach. Giving a hint that he should not worry about his future but keep doing his best on the tracks. If the 24-year-old keeps improving every race, he will have a high chance of getting promoted to Red Bull Racing.

A little bit [of talks], I would say - but it's not significant [with] different targets or decisive conversations that make my future. Both Helmut and Christian are saying, I still have to perform and concentrate on what I’m doing.

Certainly, Tsunoda explained that his talks were not very significant, but an advise for him to focus on himself. He believed that while the talks were not very important, the advice would help him in the long run. Therefore, If he maintains consistent performance with Red Bull’s sister team, it will benefit him over time.
