McLaren was engaged in a challenge fight for the 2024 title last year. Despite Lando Norris‘ failure to defeat Max Verstappen, the Woking-based team managed to win its first teams’ championship since 1998. Now, McLaren CEO Zak Brown has predicted a tougher challenge this year.

The 2024 season witnessed the top 4 teams battling one another for race victory. It is likely that the top teams will continue to fight this year. So much so, that Zak Brown claimed that the field would be even closer in 2025 compared to the past season.

I think the field is going to be even tighter than last season.

Brown made it clear that McLaren, Ferrari, Red Bull, and Mercedes will remain just as close in the upcoming season. Ferrari’s campaign will be further bolstered by Lewis Hamilton’s arrival. This could make it more difficult for Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri to bring in the desired results for the Woking-based team.

I see the top four teams being just as tight as they were at the end of the year.

Zak Brown expects ‘epic’ 2025 title fight

The 2024 season was one of the most competitive seasons in F1’s recent history. Zak Brown asserted that things will get even more interesting this year, labeling 2025 as a potentially ‘epic season.’ The McLaren CEO highlighted that fans can expect to see a three or even a four-way battle for the F1 world championship in the coming months.

I think we’re going to start for an epic season… I think we’re going to have an unbelievable three, four-way driver championship. And four teams fighting for the constructors’ (championship). I think that’s possible.

Zak Brown noted

Certainly, fans would be delighted to hear the words of Zak Brown. Closer competition up front would only make things better for viewers across the world. Although, McLaren fans will hope that Lando Norris can succeed in grabbing his maiden F1 title by the end of this season.
