McLaren and Monster Energy agreed to a sponsorship deal in 2023 which saw the energy drinks brand being displayed at front on the MCL38. This partnership deal came with exclusive access to McLaren personnel for the American brand’s special events. Subsequently, Zak Brown posted about his venture at the celebration of MotoGP’s 75th anniversary as he drifted a Nissan GTR-35 around the tarmac.

This led to the Silverstone circuit being announced as the venue where Monster Energy held an event to commemorate the occasion. The event brought in several notable names from the motorsport world as teams unveiled their retro inspired liveries ahead of the Grand Prix.

Zak Brown lists out priority for the 2024 season amid McLaren’s resurgence

While the 52-year-old was having fun at the MotoGp event, his team is in a high stakes battle with Red Bull for the championship. On the other hand, his driver Lando Norris is also a contender in the driver’s championship battle, which has made things a tinge more difficult for him to handle as a peculiar situation may develop between the two drivers.

Though he had earlier mentioned about a timeframe when McLaren would ultimately decide to assign driver roles. He further elaborated how important both the championships are for the team.

They’re both priorities. Because ultimately to win the Constructors’, we need our two drivers to be as high up as possible. I’d like to see both drivers in the top three. We’ve got second and fourth right now. And the closer we get to the Drivers’, the closer that’ll get us to the Constructors’. So we’re going for both because all points count.
Zak Brown said in an interview with Sky Sports F1

Brown claimed that the team needed tow drivers to win the constructors. However, winning the driver’s is not the concern right now as he wants his drivers to finsih in the top three. This would propell them in the standings and help them mount a challenge for both the championships without hampering the other driver.

Despite his optimism, Norris currently trails Max Verstappen by 78 points. Moreover, only 10 races are left in the season. Thus, winning the driver’s crown might be out of reach for the Woking-based squad if they do not asssign driver roles as the Dutchman often finishes on the podium and walks away by conceding only a few points.
