McLaren CEO Zak Brown did not hold back while sharing his thoughts on Red Bull driver Max Verstappen post-Mexican GP. Verstappen was given a 20-second penalty by the FIA for multiple offenses during the 71-lap race.
Lando Norris and Max Verstappen came head to head yet again at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez on Sunday. This time, however, the Dutchman was at clear fault for obstructing the Brit during a close battle. Verstappen also pushed Norris off the track, which granted him a second penalty.
Zak Brown thereafter sarcastically replied that the FIA did the correct thing by reprimanding the reigning world champion. The Papayas heavily protested against Verstappen for an unfair penalty on Lando Norris last week in Austin as well.
Norris and Verstappen are now separated by 47 points, with the former having made a 10-point increment after finishing P2 in Mexico. The last four races will surely go down to the wire as both drivers fight for the title this season.
Max Verstappen defends himself after finishing P6 at the Mexican Grand Prix
Max Verstappen’s performance in Mexico has been subjected to widespread criticism due to intentions in the race. In spite of that, Verstappen stands strong with his opinions and has talked of the challenges he faced.
Max Verstappen: The problem is when you are slower you are put in those situations. I am not going to make it easy. The race pace was not good. Even with the penalties we could not improve.

Verstappen said that the RB20’s lacking race pace made it difficult for him to defend against Lando Norris during the race. He has moreover stated his intentions of not making the race easy for an opponent no matter the pace.
Verstappen has now failed to win in the last 10 races, which might raise concerns in his mind. Despite holding a hefty lead, the Dutchman must now inevitably win races and score podiums to amass his fourth drivers’ championship.
