Scuderia Ferrari had to deal with disappointment on Sunday after a solid qualifying on Saturday. Ferrari who had a front row lockdown in qualifying, lost to Red Bull’s Max Verstappen who clinched victory in the inaugural Miami Grand Prix. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz finished at P2 and P3 respectively.

Dutch racing driver Max Verstappen took home his third win of the season yesterday. He had two DNFs in the other two races of the season. Pole sitter for the race, Charles Leclerc seemed to regain his pace in the F1-75 in the closing laps of the race in America’s latest street track, only to lose out to the current world champion despite having DRS enabled.

It was Red Bull’s RB18’s immense straight line speed that helped Verstappen to hold off Leclerc till the end of the race, and also securing the fastest lap on the way.

Scuderia Ferrari’s team principal Mattia Binotto seemed to be visibly disappointed post the conclusion of the Miami GP given how they were unable to secure the win despite having a front row lockdown. “I’m not satisfied, we wanted to win,” remarked Binotto right after the race concluded.

“When you start with two cars in front, you hope for a better result, a victory. We are disappointed, but being disappointed for a second and third place is positive. It means that we are not satisfied with a second place,” said the Swiss-born engineer on his takeaways from the fifth Grand Prix of the season.

“In the last few races Red Bull has overtaken us by a couple of tenths per lap. But they have developed more than us, at least so far. In Barcelona it’s up to us with a package that I hope will work well,” added Binotto. Ferrari will look forward to increasing the gap between Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen in the next Grand Prix at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya where rivals Ferrari and Red Bull will go head-to-head again.
