“Garbage finish”- Wrestling fans boil in disdain as returning 23-year-old star costs Giulia the NXT women’s title match against Roxanne Perez
It wasn't meant to be Giulia's night in Chicago as she was decked by a former NXT women's tag team champion en route to glory.

The NXT era on CW is off to a polarizing start. Contrary to what the fans had envisioned, WWE’s heavily touted signee Giulia failed to capture the NXT Women’s Championship. The closing moments of the match saw Roxanne Perez distracting the referee after prematurely salvaging the women’s title from ringside. In the meantime, a hooded figure slid in and planted Giulia with a DDT to the outside.
Back in the ring, Perez hit a second Pop Rox on The Beautiful Madness to retain the gold. Afterwards, the masked creature who cost Giulia the match was revealed to be Cora Jade. She had been on the sidelines owing to a torn ACL. There were rumblings of Jade making it back soon.
And there she is robbing the Japanese wrestler on her big night in Chicago. For the unversed, Cora and Roxanne are former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions. They had a successful stint as a duo until Jade betrayed Perez in July 2022. As a result, The Prodigy severed her ties with the 23-year-old. The two went on to have a rivalry that redefined scorn.
A couple of years later, the same woman who stabbed Roxanne in her back turned out to be her ultimate messiah. Now that it’s all said and done, it’s actually not for Perez as the champion. Last week on NXT, Stephanie Vaquer appeared via satellite.
The Mexican proclaimed that she’d coming after the winner of tonight’s women’s title match. Since the strap didn’t change hands, it appears like The Prodigy is in for another whirlwind of an opponent. Vaquer is yet to make an in-person appearance on NXT. Maybe it’s not that far now.
Fans lament Giulia’s unnecessary loss against Roxanne Perez on NXT’s CW debut
As expected, the WWE Universe is not pleased with the way Giulia was booked to lose on the CW premiere of NXT. The entire wrestling timeline on social media is simmering with derision over the ending that saw Cora Jade as the only reason why Roxanne Perez was able to remain unscathed.
Some fans even thought that the match, keeping aside the ending, was a tad underwhelming. Countless GIFs and memes also made their way into the comments, mocking the creative process of what was a hyped affair falling flat.
Based on prima facie, some believe that Jade and Perez will reunite as a team to potentially take on Giulia and Stephanie Vaquer for the time being. Whatever that might be, the majority of fans are majorly upset over how things panned out this week.
