Oklahoma City Thunder star Luguentz Dort uses knee to slow Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic, fans furious at use of such physicality

The Oklahoma City Thunder, just like any other younger team, resorts to physicality at times in playoff games to gain an edge. In today’s game 3 of their playoff series against the Dallas Mavericks, they resorted to that physicality again.

Especially against Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic, who at one time was hit in the abdomen area by Luguentz Dort, leaving fans furious.

With 4 minutes to go in regulation, Luka Doncic brought the ball up to the 3-point line. As Derrick Jones Jr. set a screen, the Slovenian superstar started to drive left.

Only for Luguentz Dort to use his knee to hit Doncic in the abdomen. The referee did instantly call a foul. However, it was deemed a normal foul, despite the excessive force used to throw the superstar off the dribble.

Dort, considering his style of play, was leading the physicality of the Thunder and picked up his fifth foul. However, it was not enough to slow the Dallas Mavericks down, as they went on to win the game. Dort eventually left the game with six fouls.

This use of his knee was taking his physicality to a whole new level. Playoff basketball usually becomes more physical. However, fans wondered why an opponent would have to use his knee. It could have ended up injuring the Mavericks superstar.

Fans are furious watching Luka Doncic take extreme hits

Had Luka Doncic been injured in some way, basketball fans would have been livid with the officiating for allowing such a play to develop.

After all, fans wait to watch their favorite superstars play elite basketball during the playoffs. The playoffs bring out the best from the worst. Therefore, for another team to resort to such antics to gain an upper hand did not sit well with fans.

At least fans were happy that Luka Doncic and his Dallas Mavericks teammates withstood all those antics to eventually win the game. But as the series plays on, desperation from the Oklahoma City Thunder might lead to worse antics if not checked.
