“NBA is washed” – Fans furious as superstar Luka Doncic gets fouled out over controversial calls in Game 3 against Celtics
The Mavericks have lost three consecutive games in the NBA finals.
Luka Doncic was fouled out in Game 3 loss
The Dallas Mavericks’ journey in the finals might have just ended due to a mere foul late in Game 3. With a huge deficit to overcome, the Mavericks made a necessary comeback in the fourth quarter. However, the team had to face a shock as superstar Luka Doncic was fouled out.
After being down 0-2, the Dallas Mavericks came prepared for their first finals home game. Kyrie Irving helped Luka Doncic and made the game very close in the first two quarters. Nevertheless, Boston caught fire in the third and was leading by as many as 25 points.
However, the Mavericks were certainly not out of answers as they responded with an unreal dominant run to cut the lead to three points. As the tie was one possession away from the Mavericks, their main man, Luka Doncic, was called for two controversial personal fouls in a span of 30 seconds.
Unfortunately, the 25-year-old reached the limit of 6 and was fouled out. The Mavericks did challenge the last foul, but the result was unsuccessful. It paved the way for Doncic to leave the game. The officiating decision was certainly a huge one, as the Mavericks could not get a lead and lost the game.
Fans were enraged by the controversial calls on Luka Doncic
Controversial foul calls are not new in the NBA. Fans never hesitate to call the referees and the league about bad calls. However, fans were especially furious about Doncic’s calls as the game was on the line. As no team has ever come back from a 0-3 deficit, the win was extremely important for the Mavericks.
The last call on Doncic was a blocking foul on Jaylen Brown, which made the fans furious. Upon review, the officials announced that due to any inconclusive evidence, the call would remain, and Doncic had to leave. The call received a lot of backlash as the championship was on the line. Here’s what fans said on X.
The Mavericks are one loss away from ending their series. Irving tried his best to take control, but the team needed Doncic in the final seconds. It will be interesting to see if Doncic and the Mavericks react to the fouls. All eyes remain set on the fourth game, as the Mavericks will aim at avoiding a sweep.
