In what could’ve been a major bump in the road for Rhea Ripley, she faced Nia Jax at Saturday Night’s Main Event on NBC. Having already beaten the 6-foot-tall specimen last year at the Elimination Chamber, Mami went into SNME walking on air. Before even the bell could ring, Jax landed a cheap shot on Rhea.
After that, neither of them wasted a single second and meant business from the get-go. Displaying fascinating chemistry, both women indulged in some crowd-pleasing spots. Nia Jax‘s pop-up Samoan Drop from the ropes looked clean. A moment came when The Eradicator launched herself into the challenger with a crossbody to the outside.
Fans thought Nia would upset Ripley after she hit the champ with an annihilator. However, that was not to be. The ending came when the former Judgment Day member planted The Irresistible Force with a Riptide. Having said that, the 2024 Queen of the Ring will now have to go back of the line to earn another crack at either of the women’s titles.
She’s set to enter the 30-woman Royal Rumble match next Saturday. Meanwhile, Rhea can take a breather for now. She won the gold back on January 6 on the Netflix premiere of Raw. Having ousted her longtime rival Liv Morgan, Mami was once again at the top. She’s finally free from The Judgment Day saga and ready to take the gauntlet to whoever steps up next.
Jax did try and get a taste of what one could expect from The Nightmare this time around. It’d be interesting to see if Rhea holds onto that strap until WrestleMania 41. WWE has big plans for her at The Show of Shows, as a potential showdown with Bianca Belair is in the cards.
Fans extol Rhea Ripley’s dominating performance against a resilient Nia Jax at SNME 2025
Merely days after becoming a two-time Women’s World Champion, Rhea Ripley has a successful title defense under her belt. She did so at the expense of an outspoken Nia Jax. The latter had been braggadocious of late and paid the price.
Most of the fans seem elated by the match these ladies put on. Even though it felt to some that the bout could’ve gone on longer, at least it was entertaining, they claimed. One fan hailed Mami as one of the few women who could produce a decent match out of Jax.
Having said that, a bunch of women are waiting in the wings for Ripley. Iyo Sky is someone who could win the Royal Rumble match to challenge The Eradicator at WrestleMania. Also, who knows if Becky Lynch comes back to pose a serious threat to Rhea’s upward trajectory.
