The 2024 French Open has concluded and the recent PIF-ATP rankings showed a major change as 22-year-old Jannik Sinner surpassed Novak Djokovic to become the new men’s World No.1. It marked a historic moment for Italy to witness one of their finest players reach the top of the rankings.

As a note of celebration, many tennis greats got together to make a video montage for Sinner. Legends like Roger Federer, Andre Agassi, and John McEnroe wished the Italian for his incredible achievement, and their wishes were compiled and posted on social media as a montage.

Although many saw the nice gesture from ATP to Sinner, they could not help but question the favoritism shown. While other players have also reached World No.1, Sinner is one of the few to have received a video montage. One player, Daniil Medvedev, who has consistently dislodged the Big 4 to eventually become the World No.1, did not receive any such montage for his achievement.

“Only Sinner gets a montage? He deserves it but…Poor old Meddy,  1st player in 18 years to dislodge big 4 for no 1 spot, but his timing and nationality were off,” commented a user on X.

Soon, other netizens also started to notice the partiality and listed other players who had not received a montage. However, as it stands, Sinner is leading the rankings while Carlos Alcaraz has moved up a spot, pushing Djokovic to the third spot.

With that, Sinner was crowned the World No. 1 and in celebration, the ATP sent out a video montage of all the legends wishing him. Moreover, some players, including Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, were not featured in the video but still congratulated Sinner.

Nonetheless, many noticed the partiality mentioned above and had many comments on this topic. Let’s take a look at some comments.

The tour has now completed its clay court season and is transitioning to grass courts. With Wimbledon less than a month away, players are making the necessary adjustments to be fully prepared for the tournament.
