Rhea Ripley finally regained the women’s world title on the Netflix premiere of Raw. It was a bumpy road getting to that point. Before she headed out for the moment of truth, the Aussie got pleasantly surprised by The Rock. In a behind-the-scenes video posted by WWE on its YouTube, one could see The Great One stopping by Rhea.
The Rock gently apologized for interrupting Ripley midway into her final prep for her rematch with Liv Morgan. The Hollywood actor hugged Mami and applauded her for carrying the company on her back. That was quite wholesome, as can be seen below. It was more than that; in fact, it was a shot in the arm for The Eradicator, who couldn’t quite close out 2024 on a high.
However, when she stepped out, a packed-to-the-rafters Intuit Dome gave her a hero’s welcome. Rhea ran through Liv and dethroned the latter. After the match, Ripley’s ex, Dominik Mysterio, tried to make up with his Mami. However, the former Judgment Day member kicked Dom in the balls. It received a pop.
Just when Rhea was about to exit and was celebrating on the entrance stage, The Undertaker‘s gong went off. Out came Taker, embracing his American Badass gimmick. He joined Mami in her euphoria, and they both did the signature Taker pose before heading to the back.
It puts an end to a near nine-month-long rivalry between Rhea and Morgan. They had been beefing since after WrestleMania XL. Liv inadvertently injured Rhea during a backstage brawl. It was so poetic as Mami had been tasked with writing Morgan off TV in July 2023 after Liv dislocated her shoulder. But it’s all in the past now, and both women are off to different ways.
Who stepped up to Rhea Ripley on Raw?
This week on Raw, Rhea Ripley walked into the show with gold. She was once again on top; Rhea claimed after admitting it would’ve sounded like a broken record. It didn’t take long for Nia Jax to make her way out and crash The Nightmare’s bash.
She mentioned how the transfer window is in effect, teasing a potential move to the red brand. Jax declared herself for the 30-woman Royal Rumble match. She then berated Bayley, who was sitting in the front row. After hearing enough, The Role Model entered the ring and got into Nia’s face.
Afterwards, both Bayley and Ripley launched a 2-on-1 attack on The Irresistible Force. There’s still no clarity about Rhea’s next challenger for the women’s title. Although there had been rumors of Iyo Sky being her opponent at WrestleMania 41.
