La Liga has always been blessed with great goalkeepers over the years ever since its inception. The league has produced some of the finest talents- be it the ones hitting the nets or saving the ball from passing the nets.

With such talents rising frequently in La Liga, it becomes difficult to rank these goalkeepers since all of them have played for different teams with a pair of different central defenders and in different eras. Andoni Zubizarreta- Alaves, Athletic Bilbao, Barcelona and Valencia

Andoni Zubizarreta or Zubi is one of the best keepers in the history of La Liga and was active during the 1980s from 1980 to 1998. During his playing days, he played for heavyweight Spanish teams FC Barcelona, Valencia, and Athletic Bilbao.

He made a record for the most clean sheets in La Liga history and the all-time record for most appearances in the league with an incredible sum of 622 games. His best season on personal levels was at the 1986-1987 season in which he conceded only 29 goals in 43 matches for Barcelona.

Playing for one of the successful teams in the history of football, he won it all for his clubs including the UEFA Champions League, La Liga, Copa del Rey the Super Cup.

La Liga fans of the earlier 2000s would recognize the blonde goalkeeper Santiago Canizares, who played for the best teams in La Liga, Real Madrid, and Valencia. He made a total of 500 appearances at the club level with most of them coming for Valencia during the years 1998-2008.

Cañizares won the Zamora Trophy four times in his career, establishing his place in the list of Best Goalkeepers in La Liga history. He is the third in the list of goalkeepers with the most Zamora Trophies making him one of the top 5 goalkeepers in La Liga of all time. He won the La Liga trophy 4 times across his career and was part of Valencia’s most successful Champions League season in 2000-01 where they finished runners-up.

One of the top keepers in the World in the modern era, Jan Oblak also makes it into the top 5 goalkeepers in La Liga and has been one of the top performers of Atletico Madrid since he made his debut in 2014. He went on to lift the La Liga trophy twice in 2014 and in 2021. He has also lifted the Zamora trophy 4 times and was one of the key architects of Atletico’s league-winning season in 2021. He has made a total of 281 matches for the Rojiblancos and became the fastest goalkeeper to reach 100 clean sheets in the Spanish League.
