Injury concern a headache for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal

It is reported that the the 23 year old is suffering for quite a time with tendinitis in the knee. The extent of the injury is not known, but having pulled out of the squad completely, with Brazil starting their campaign on July 22nd and the final is to be held on 7th August, the injury seems to be particularly grave.

Gabriel was given a nod in Andre Jardine 18 man squad along with Dani Alves, Sevilla’s Diego Carlos and Aston Villa’s Douglaz Luiz. However after the first training season he complained of discomfort and an MRI scan determined a tendonitis.
The former Lille star has left the Brazilian camp and will head back to North London to continue treatment with Arsenal’s medical team.

However this is sure to cause Mikel Arteta plenty of problems. With probable signing Ben White needing time off after England’s EURO campaign and William Saliba linked to a move away from Arsenal, Gunners could start their league with Rob Holding and Pablo Mari and Calum Chambers with backup.

Gabriel had a good start with life at Arsenal after joining from Lille for a fee of 27 million pounds in 2020 scoring on his full Premier League debut against Fulham and winning back-to-back man-of-the-match awards. However his formed had since dipped.
The extent of the injury is not yet determined so it is difficult to determine for how long will he be out on the sidelines. However he will certainly a miss from both the Arsenal and Brazilian squad
