Tuchel signs two-year contract extension at Chelsea

Thomas Tuchel, who had earlier replaced Frank Lampard as head coach in January, guided Chelsea to its second Champions League title after beating Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City 1-0 in the final at Porto. He played a key role in Chelsea’s famous turnover in fate as the Blues enjoyed a 14-match unbeaten run in all competitions under the German and eased past Atletico Madrid, Porto, and Real Madrid en route to the Champions League final, where they tasted the much-awaited victory.
Tuchel said after the emphatic final that he expected a contract extention deal after the incredible triumph as he looked to continue at the West London club, and seemed confident that he would be handed a new deal soon after the initial period of success as Chelsea’s manager.
And today, Tuchel has signed a new three-year contract at Chelsea, as per an official club statement released by Chelsea.
“I cannot imagine a better occasion for a contract renewal. I am grateful for the experience and very happy to stay part of the Chelsea family.
“There is far more to come and we are looking forward to our next steps with ambition and much anticipation.” said a seemingly pleased Tuchel after the contract extention.
Even Chelsea club director Marina Granovskaia was more than happy to offer the new deal to the German as she said; “When Thomas joined us in January there was still so much to play for domestically and in Europe. He slotted in seamlessly and immediately became an integral part of the Chelsea family.
“Returning us to the top four in the Premier League was crucial, and we could not be happier with our success in the Champions League which crowned a remarkable season at Chelsea. We are obviously extremely pleased therefore to retain Thomas for a further two years, and look forward to more achievements in the coming seasons.” added Marina.
Tuchel will now look to add more accolades to his name while at Chelsea, as he sets target on the prestigious Premier league title for the upcoming season.
