Erling Haaland has been one of the most sought-after players all across Europe owing to the 21-year old’s extraordinary goal-scoring record. The Borussia Dortmund striker has netted 80 goals in 79 appearances since joining Dortmund from RB Salzburg two years ago and the goals.

In his recent interview with Sky Sports, the Norwegian striker talked about how he has been watching a lot of players and Jamie Vardy has been of them. He said that he plays on Saturday and spends the whole Sunday watching football. He also stated that he liked watching Van Persie score loads of goals

He said: “I’ve been watching a lot of players, let’s take for example the run in behind the centre-back when the No 10 has the ball. You have maybe the best in the world at that, Jamie Vardy. I’ve been looking a lot at him on exactly this. I have always been watching a lot of football and I still do. When we play Saturday, I go home on Sunday and watch football all day.”

“Van Persie I watched a lot, he was also left-footed. I watched him scoring a lot of goals and as a left-footer as well it was natural for me to watch him a lot. I’ve been watching a lot of players, especially strikers.

Talking about his inspiration, Haaland mentioned that he hates losing and winning inspires him.

He said: “First of all, to win. I hate to lose. The worst thing is to lose. What inspires me is to win, to play good football, to score nice goals and for me as a striker it is up to me to score the goals. That is what really inspires me.

Erling Haaland’s contract with Borussia Dortmund ends in the summer of 2024 and from what it seems, the £64m release clause is highly likely to be triggered this summer by European giants. In the Premier League, Manchester City is considered to be the favourite in the race for the 21-year-old’s signature, although Spanish giants Real Madrid and FC Barcelona are reportedly preparing to make their own bids too.
