Former Chelsea striker flames Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s transfer to Newcastle United, cites issues with consistency as main problem

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has suddenly found himself outside the Arsenal squad after a continuous breach of disciplinary issues. The Gabon international was stripped out of captaicy too by the Gunners manager Mikel Arteta last month.

Though it is not perfectly clear why the 32 year old has been left out of the squad, but the reports are saying that Aubameyang was once again caught breaching the disciplinary protocols set by the club for the players. The striker was caught once earlier last year but was given a second chance by Arteta.

But now after again being the centre of attention for wrong reasons, Aubameyang has been completely dropped out of the squad and is reportedly transfer listed by the Gunners for the January transfer window.

The 32 year old has been out of form too since last season. Aubameyang lacks consistency and is not puttin gin the effort that is required from a leader. The Gabon international was not continuously missing big chances for his team before being dropped and his market value has decreased significantly this season.

Newcastle United are linked with a number of players currently. This is due to their new Saudi Arabian ownership that has made the Magpies the richest club in England. Newcastle United are interested in players at various positions and are expected to sign a few big names.

Kieran Trippier is expected to sign for the Magpies this winter after it was reported that they have reached a deal with Atletico Madrid for the England international. Other names include Sven Botman, Jesse Lingard of Manchester United and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang himself.

Now that Newcastle United’s main striker Callum Wilson is again injured, the Magpies will be looking to replace him with a new striker. The only one available right now is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who looks set to leave Arsenal for a short loan spell.

There has been interest from top clubs like FC Barcelona and Juventus for Aubameyang but Newcastle United have also entered the race to sign the Gabon international for a short term loan until the end of the season with an option to buy in the summer.

Tony Cascarino on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang:

Former Chelsea player Tony Cascarino has doubts over Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang‘s potential transfer to Newcastle United. Cascarino thinks Aubameyang is not world-class now and has lacked consistency over the last 18 months.

Cascarino said,” He is someone who is not in the Arsenal first team, let’s get that right. Do you want a player who is going to show commitment, running, doing all the ugly stuff in the game that you’re going to need to survive?”

The former Chelsea player added,” Does he do that very well? I’d say that is the worst part of his game. Is he a quality footballer that can turn a game in a moment? At his best, yes. But when has he last done that regularly? Not very often this season, even towards the end of last summer.”

“I don’t see this deal being a good one for Newcastle at all. I think it will be more of an air of is Aubameyang doing Newcastle a favour and I probably think, no, he’s not going to be doing them a favour”, Cascarino added.
