Lewis Hamilton is one of the most popular names in global sports and is one of the best Formula One drivers to have graced the planet. The British driver currently competes as part of the Mercedes Formula One team. He is one of the most successful drivers in the history of the sport and holds the joiny record for most World Drivers’ Championship titles (7) along with Michael Schumacher.
For those who don’t know much about Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton, he started out with team McLaren F1 in the year 2007. However after spending five years at McLaren he decided to shift to German team Mercedes which would eventually shape up his career. He has won a staggering 6 World Championship titles with them and looks to add even more.
Lewis Hamilton talks about his passion for football other than his current career
Many people would know that Lewis Hamilton at one point of time had a passion for football as well! Yes that’s right Hamilton has admitted in an interview that if he had not become an F1 driver, he would have probably pursued a career in professional football. Moreover he also played association football for his school (The John Henry Newman School) and was friends with former Manchester United and England international Ashley Young.
In an interview with RT sports he was asked that if he had pursued football would he be as successful as Lionel Messi or just an average player, he said: “ No I was never that good ! To be honest I would have tried to become a soccer player but I would never become a top soccer player like that awesome soccer player [Lionel Messi]. But I don’t know I would’ve probably ended up in the family IT business probably.”
