France has not been playing to the maximum of their ability that they posses. Pitted in the group of death group ‘F” they faced Germany on their opening match day which they won 1-0 thanks to the own goal from Mats Hummels, after the first win they let themselves a bit loose as they drew their next two fixtures, one against Hungary with their resilient performance to hold mighty France on level points and the next to Portugal which was drew even by two of Ronaldo’s spot kick.
Though they finished top of their group scoring 3 goals and conceding 3 with 56% average possesion, the performance is not what they would have expected given the standard and quality of the squad. With a relatively easier opponent Switzerland drawn against them in the round of 16 France would look to spring back into grooves quickly to perform at the level they really should be.
Switzerland started their campaign with a draw against Wales and the loosing to the top side Italy, but their win on the last match against Turkey gave them just the points to qualify for the round of 16 as the third placed team with 4 points. They have conceded more goals and scored less with a goal difference of -1 and it is an area they would quickly look to reinforce and up their quality of game significantly to compete with France who would exploit every small chance they get from the Swiss side.
