Gianluigi Donnarumma undergoes his medicals at Rome ahead of his potential free transfer to French giants Paris Saint Germain
Italian star goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is understood to undergone his medicals in Rome, which is a potential proceeding ahead of his free transfer to French club Paris Saint-Germain, Sky Sports has reported.
Gianluigi Donnarumma to sign his contract with PSG in upcoming days after completion of his medicals today
Gianluigi Donnarumma had earlier been unable to reach an agreement with AC Milan, whom he represented since his teenage years for a new contract, with his talks of a five-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain now nearing fruition.
Donnarumma who is currently with the Italy national team for the Euro 2020, was allowed to travel to Rome’s Sant’Andrea hospital to complete his medicals, following Italy’s 1-0 win over Wales in their last group fixture the previous day.
PSG have rumouredly offered Milan’s star goalkeeper Donnarumma a five-year deal with wages of around £10.3m (€12m) per year plus add-ons as he is expected to earn an approximate €200,000 per week as mentioned in the long term contract.
Previously, even after long longing talks between AC Milan and Donnarumma’s agent Mino Raiola, they were eventually unable to agree a new contract with the Rossonerri, whom Donnarumma had represented since an early age of 14, with club director Paulo Maldini remarking that the club is bigger than the player and is unable to concur to the terms of Donnarumma’s agent.
“Gianluigi Donnarumma completed his medical with Paris Saint-Germain this morning in Italy, as expected. He’s now signing his contract until June 2026 – then he’ll be announced as new PSG signing in the next days. Done deal, here we go confirmed.” Fabrizio Romano also reported.
Donnarumma made a hefty 251 appearances for the Milan outfit in all competitions, and kept 88 clean sheets, after rising from the youth ranks in 2015. He played a key role in Milan finishing second in the Serie A in 2020-21 and qualifying for the Champions League next season.
At such a young age, Donnarumma has already been regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world currently and is now almost set to compete with Keylor Navas with a place under the bars for PSG.
