How can Manchester United Lineup with Ralf Rangnick in charge?
Manchester United Lineup with Ralf Rangnick
Manchester United have pressed the reset button yet again as they sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Enter Ralf Rangnick the man who’s formed the blueprint of modern football with his inventive pressing style called the ‘Gegenpress’. He has also been an influential figure in shaping modern German football and many of its young managers.
By now you know how many big names he has inspired i.e, the likes of Jurgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel, Julian Nagelsmann and countless others. So how will he change the fortunes of Manchester United now that he has been given the interim manager role.
One of the first things that he needs to provide to the Red Devils is a formidable playing style, he needs to give an identity to the Reds play which has been lacking of late. Going back to his Leipzig days one can easily understand Rangnick’s playing style which is based on high pressing, fast passing and quick transitional play.
At Manchester United, he is likely to play in a 4-2-2-2 formation just like he did with RB Leipzig but he is a top manager and a flexible tactician who can adapt his playing style with regard to the squad he inherits.
In goal David De Gea is certain to keep his place given his stunning form this season. In the defence either one of Victor Lindelof or Raphael Varane will partner with skipper Harry Maguire despite his shoddy start to the season.
The main changes can be expected in the full-back department with Aaron Wan Bissaka constantly disappointing with his attacking output and Luke Shaw finding it difficult to find his good form again. Don’t be surprised if you see Diogo Dalot or Alex Telles slotting in at right back and left back respectively. Rangnick will play two holding midfielders which are likely to be Fred and Scott Mctominay although Donny Van De Beek could also get a place.
Further up Rangnick will deploy two attacking midfielders which will be Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho with Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford being the main strikers. Edinson Cavani, Mason Greenwood, and Anthony Martial could also slot in as a forward two.
How will Ronaldo fit in Ralf Rangnick’s Manchester United?
One of the main questions floating around is will Cristiano Ronaldo fits in Rangnick’s proactive and high pressing philosophy. I personally think there should be no problem with Ronaldo because with the right instructions he should be able to work for the team without any problem.
Moreover, Ralf Rangnick has always made his team shoot for goal within 10 seconds of regaining possession and there is no better man to do it than Ronaldo even though he is 36 years old he still knows how to put it in the back of the net.
With the right personnel around Ronaldo, there should be no problem if Rangnick is at the helm it is because he has a plan to use Ronaldo.
