“I want to say thank you to the Red Army”-Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick hails home supporters for crucial 1-0 win against West Ham United

Manchester United faced top 4 rivals West Ham United at Old Trafford in the Premier League. The game was dominated by the Red Devils for most of the time but they failed to create opportunities against David Moyes’ side until the last minute of the game.
It was a must win game for Manchester United to get them back into the top 4 ahead of the Hammers with a game in hand. It was going to be a tricky fixture as West Ham United had already beaten the Red Devils at Old Trafford earlier in the season to knock them out of the Carabao Cup.
However, after a series of failed attacks yesterday, Rangnick decided to bring on Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford to the fray. Not many fans were confident what these 3 players could do considering their form but all 3 players played their part in the match-winning goal.
Anthony Martial set up a ball for Edinson Cavani who in turn played a first time pass to Marcus Rashford to finish off the game in stoppage time, or more famously known as, “Fergie Time”. The home crowd ruptured into happiness and this win will give the Red Devils a lot of confidence going into the next match.

Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick’s post match comments:
Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick was visibly happy after his side beat fellow top 4 rivals West Ham United in the dying stages of the game yesterday night at home. This win will surely give a lot of boost for the squad and Rangnick gave his thoughts about the team and the fans after the crucial win.
Ralf Rangnick said,” If I look at the shots on goal and the chances created during the game, I think we deserved a 1-0 win. For me, it was clear from the very beginning it would take some patience against a well-organised team like West Ham. It was not always easy for us to find the best possible solutions in the final third.”
Rangnick added,” Defensively I think it was probably the best performance in the last 8 weeks, the way that we were always trying to win the balls back, our counter-pressing. The physicality of the game was really outstanding and we know we still have to improve the possession of the ball.”
The German also said,” I also enjoyed the other wins, also the win at Brentford, which was as important as the win today, but this was an extremely emotional game. An extremely emotional moment, I can only say thank you to the Red Army. The way that they supported the team all through the game- they pushed us and carried us through the game. It was amazing.”
“An extremely emotional moment if you score in the last second of the game, knowing that there is no time anymore for the other time to reply. Since I have arrived, in home games it was by far the best atmosphere in the stadium,” said the interim boss.
Asked if “Fergie Time” is now “Ralfie Time”, the German boss smiled and said,” I don’t know how long Fergie time was. Was that the last five minutes? How long? I would not mind if that happened. But again, of course we would also like to have more games like Brentford at the end when we were 3-0 up.”
To end the interview, the Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick said,” But if you score with the last seconds of the game, the big advantage is there is no time for the team to reply and that was a good one or the positive moment about the goal.”
