Manchester United FC interested to bid for Real Madrid FC defender Raphael Varane
Raphael Varane
The pre-transfer season period is heating up with clubs discussing ways to assemble the best players that would provide productivity in the long run. One such transfer link-up that is heating up is that of Raphael Varane to Manchester United FC. The Red Devils are eager to bring the Frenchman to Old Trafford and have set a sum of 40 million pounds for the defender. As per recent reports manager, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is pushing the club management to complete this agreement at the earliest.
The 28-year-old defender has been associated with Los Blancos for more than a decade and has provided resistance at the backline with his technical prowess. Varane has displayed clever marking during open play as well as during set-piece situations to thwart any attack from the opposition with his awareness and brave clearances. Playing under Zinedine Zidane strengthened him tactically and made him organized in his decision making to make timely clearances.
Will Raphael Varane be the right man for Manchester United?
Manchester United FC needs 3-4 quality additions to be considered as title contenders for the next season in their set up and Varane could be one of those additions. His combination with skipper Harry Maguire would add solidity and reliability at the backline as Nemanja Matic and Phil Jones are on the radar of West Ham United FC as their futures at Old Trafford are undecided. Varane can outwit the best attacks with his powerful tackles during open play, sliding interceptions and ability to win aerial duels with his reach. Varane has won 18 trophies with Real Madrid till now.
The defender has showcased a clever presence of mind when it comes to showing authority and tenacity with his marking during set-piece situations. Varane is also known for his adaptability as the defender can operate from every position whether it is from the centre or at the wings. The Frenchman can read the situation well and his ability to control the possession and win the ball from difficult positions is the reason manager Solksjaer is insisting to sign the defender.
If the deal is successful then Solksjaer and the team management need to pick a combination in defence that would create a set-up that would provide more acceleration in the midfield keeping Varane’s role in mind. It has to be seen how Varane is accommodated and how he manages to adjust given the changing mechanisms and playing conditions of English football.
Varane will have to be on par and consistent given the competition in the squad and the challenges of English football. It would definitely add more solidity in the defensive organization if Varane strikes this deal and would be a big boost for Manchester United FC.
