Aaron Ramsdale‘s dad responded to Jamie Carragher, who ‘mocked’ Ramsdale’s celebration of a great save by David Raya. Debates emerged online about who Arsenal’s starting GK should be when David Raya signed from Brentford. So, when Aaron Ramsdale was on the bench – while David Raya was in the starting XI – this Sunday, this made the third game in a row where the Spaniard was picked over the Englishman.
David Raya‘s beautiful save in the first half was met with thunderous applause by fans and teammates alike at the Emirates. One of those teammates was substitute GK Aaron Ramsdale. This did not go down well with ex-Liverpool turned pundit, Carragher said, “I was laughing when I saw that. He’ll be absolutely devastated.”
Nick Ramsdale, Aaron’s father, was infuriated with the pundit’s comments and labeled him a ‘disgrace’ on Twitter. The pundit – who likened the incident to losing the Oscar and clapping and smiling for the other person – believes that Aaron will be looking to move on in the winter transfer window. “I think Arsenal will be looking at it and thinking they could get a few quid for him,” he said.
Nick Ramsdale further responded to Jamie Carragher.“Show some class!! My lad has,” the man said as the pundit made fun of his son for applauding his teammate. The North London Derby ended in a 2-2 draw which means Tottenham Hotspur is currently sitting above Arsenal in the table.
Aaron Ramsdale, from relegation to title runner
The Current Arsenal 2nd choice GK was pivotal in Arsenal’s title charge last season. With a run that saw the club reach new heights, Aaron Ramsdale quickly solidified himself as one of the best in the league after joining in 2021. With his recent performances, he has made fans forget that he was part of two sides that got relegated from the Premier League.
The player was relegated twice, once with AFC Bournemouth and the second time with Sheffield United. His relegation was unfortunate as the player had, in both those seasons, performed admirably, making over 120+ saves and reaching the top 3 when it came to most saves. Mikel Arteta took notice and signed the player following Sheffield’s relegation. Coming under criticism for signing a 2x relegated player, Aaron Ramsdale paid Arteta’s faith in kind by quickly replacing Leno as No.1 and playing a vital role in Arsenal’s title charge last season.
The goalkeeper now finds himself in a similar situation to former compatriot Bernd Leno. Will the gunner sit on the bench and accept his place or will he move to greener pastures? From relegation to a title contender, many clubs will be looking for his signature if he decides to leave.
