Iran’s national football team has finally revealed their 25-member squad that will take the flight to Qatar for the FIFA World Cup and the selections and decisions made by the manager Carlos Queiroz were not made in a press conference. He rather released a statement on the Iranian federation’s official website.
The federation put pressure on him to drop certain players who had spoken out against the Tehran regime which caused the manager to not attend the press conference. Iran has been targeted by Sweden a couple of times leading up to the World Cup and Sweden also filed a petition to FIFA for banning Iran from the tournament for their involvement in the transfer of drones to Russia.
Talking about the team, Iran doesn’t lack talents at all, and with experienced players like Mehdi Taremi, Sardar Azmoun, and Alireza Jahanbakhsh on the side, they will be a tough opponent to face. Iran will play the USA, Wales, and England in Group B and will look to move onto the round of 16 stage for the first time in their history.
